Make a Tiny Basket With Natural Foraged Materials

Discover the art of tiny basket making using natural, foraged materials and an ancient twining technique.

In this hands-on, nature-connected class, participants will learn how to create a small basket
using soft plant materials found right in our everyday surroundings. Along the way, you’ll explore:

  • Where to find basketry materials,
  • How foraging can deepen your connection to nature,
  • And how to prepare a few commonly available natural fibers for weaving.

This three-session class includes:
Session 1 –The basics: learn an ancient twining technique innovated by indigenous folks in cultures all
around the world.
Session 2 & 3–Basket making meetups for skill building and troubleshooting.
No prior basketry experience is needed. Come ready to explore, learn, and create with materials
gathered from nature.
Supplies needed-please bring to class: Big darning needle, small scissors, a cloth you don’t mind
getting dirty. I will have extras you can borrow if needed.
