Dear Friend,

As we witness so much suffering in the world, one question keeps arising for many of us: how can we bring more presence and love where it matters the most?

Of course there is not just one answer to this question; we each have our unique gifts to bring. But here’s one possibility I’d like to share with you.

Our relationship with other animals can offer us a profound way of learning how to care for and honor our connections with all of life — and maybe even because our relationships with them can be less complicated than with other humans, we can learn more directly what it means to love and be loved.

I recently completed narrating a really special audiobook project, and yesterday sat down and had a chat with Krista Helman, the author who is also a therapist, speaker, and founder of the Trauma and Grief Institute.

Even though our stories are different on the surface, I  feel that what she’s sharing here is universal, and can benefit all of us who want to live and love fully and wholeheartedly.

“Over the Rainbow: the Love, Loss and Legacy of Your Dog” invites you to explore the grief that follows the loss of a beloved pet. In the book you can discover why dogs hold a special place in our hearts, the reason we feel so much pain from their death, and chart a path forward. Featuring heartfelt stories from fellow pet lovers, including the author’s own journey, this book validates your grief and reveals the healing power of renewing connection after death.

Through practical exercises — guided meditations, journaling and hands-on reflection — this book helps you understand your grief, and shows you how to reconnect with love and joy.
